Florida Problem-Solving Court Certification Program

Background

Florida Supreme Court Administrative Order No. aosc23 - 89 adopted the Problem-Solving Court Certification Program. The goal of the certification program is to ensure that Florida’s problem-solving courts maintain fidelity to evidence-based best practices, enhance problem-solving court operations statewide, and improve participant outcomes. The certification program also provides an opportunity for problem-solving courts throughout the state to be recognized for their professionalism and successful implementation of best practices.

The certification program is intended for courts that believe they are following Florida best practices and are ready to be certified. Problem-solving courts must comply with all best practices required for certification to achieve full certification. Please note that best practices designated as recommended will not be considered in determining whether certification will be granted.

Implementation will begin on July 1, 2024 with a pilot program of up to six adult drug courts designed to test the program prior to full implementation for all adult drug courts. The certification program will subsequently be expanded to other problem-solving court types with best practices approved by the Florida Supreme Court contingent upon available resources.

Adult drug courts that believe they are following all best practices required for certification may contact Jennifer Sears at searsj@jkchealthtech.com by Friday, May 10, 2024 to be considered for participation in the pilot program. Selected courts will be required to complete a certification application including a self-assessment and provide supplemental materials including a policies and procedures manual, participant handbook, administrative order establishing the program, and program data to verify compliance with best practices.

In preparation for implementation of the Problem-Solving Court Certification Program, the Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts, in collaboration with the Office of the State Courts Administrator, hosted an educational Zoom webinar on Friday, 4月12日.
